Sulica Protopopescu Vonica
Past, present and future. Who we areSulica, Protopopescu, Vonica – Attorneys at Law  (SPV Legal) is the successor of one of the most prestigious local law firms, established in 1996 by the much regretted Dan Sulica, one of the pioneers of business legal practice in Romania, benefiting during years of the expertise of other illustrious specialists: Mr. Victor Babiuc (founder of the early legal practice in 1996, partner 2000-2009), Mr. Mihai Constantinescu (partner 1998-2000) and Mr. Victor Tanasescu (partner 2000).The members of our present core team, who under the guidance of the firm’s founders took their first steps in the business legal environment in the mid ‘90s, have been since then growing with the market itself as this became more diverse and sophisticated, being challenged to innovate and create ingenious but reliable solutions for business that was getting ahead of legislation and practice. At the beginning of 2006 three of the young partners, each having professional expertise of more than a decade - Adriana Puscas, Radu Protopopescu and Lucian Vonica - become the new engines of the firm, developing a refreshed approach while also preserving essential values: highest quality of service, sound legal training, team stability and client care - a set of values that led to many successful missions. In a market forced to become increasingly demanding, SPV Legal is looking to strengthen its resources, being to the same extent concerned to improve the qualifications and expertise of each team member. What we doSPV Legal is acting in the business legal area focusing on premium corporate and financial services matters, employment and labour matters, commercial transactions, contracts, insolvency and debt recovering, dispute settlement, arbitration/litigation, advising domestic and international trading companies and private investors.SPV Legal has a special interest in getting to know the particularities of each client’s business; therefore we pride ourselves with our ability to provide our clients individually-tailored and pro-active service. The high degree of partner involvement is another notable characteristic of our practice, our partners being active workers and readily available for direct interaction. We avoid this way rendering legal advice which, although correct, may sometimes be useless for the client. The firm’s practice is structured in three major departments: Financial Services, M&A/Corporate and Litigation. Radu Protopopescu and Adriana Puscas coordinate legal work in the first two departments and Lucian Vonica is leading the Litigation department. Besides their main profession, Lucian is also a licensed insolvency practitioner, while Adriana is preparing to licence a mediator office.SPV Legal has a very broad based corporate practice department. Our work ranges from simple company formation to complex legal opinions, corporate restructuring, takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, including corporate finance, compliance and contracts. Value for moneySPV Legal promotes a flexible fee structure, oriented to an optimum ratio between the level of our fees and the client’s benefit. While we are definitely not low-cost, we try to charge our clients strictly the fair value of our legal work, without transferring oversized internal costs. We know that legal expertise is ultimately what clients should pay lawyers for and, even if there are certain things that may make legal dealings easier, funnier or fancier, at the end of the day, if the advice is poor, the rest does not really matter.
