Traditionally, trademark agents concentrate on the task of filing and administrating trademark registrations, whereas attorneys at law are employed for litigations and contracts. The law firm Meisser & Partners was established in 1979 with the idea to offer these complementary services from one source. It has since then built up  worldwide experience and know-how in the fields of trademark registration, availability searches, trademark watching, intellectual property disputes, domain name conflicts and licensing. Its reputation is reflected by its listing in the "Guide to the World's Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners", edited by the Legal Media Group which in 2005 nominated J. David Meisser to be among the leading 25 trademark practitioners in the world. In addition, we are proud to be among the few Swiss trademarks offices regularly listed in the trademarks section of "Who's Who Legal", The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, since its first edition in 2002. In 2007, Informa Law, the publisher of Trademarkworld, Patentworld, Copyrightworld and IPworld published a list of 123 personalities in the field of intellectual property worldwide. This list includes two Swiss personalities only and J. David Meisser is one of them.Among our clients are the owners of internationally well-known brands in the fields of tobacco (particularly cigars), cosmetics, financial services, stock exchange indexes, food products, textiles, sporting goods, supermarkets, computer software, tourism and the construction industry.Memberships include: AIPPI (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Industrielle), INTA (International Trademark Association), INGRES (Institut für Gerwerblichen Rechtsschutz, a Swiss professional organization regarding intellectual property), LES - Licensing Executive Society,  the Swiss Bar Association and others.J. David Meisser served as the editor-in-chief of AIPPI's international publications from 1983 to 2001 and has been elected as Member of Honour. He is also one of the founders of  INGRES in 1985 and served as member of its board until 2000. He has written a number of books and articles in the field of intellectual property, including a commentary on geographical indications.
